Build planner

A PC that fits together, for your budget

Pick a budget and what the PC is for. The planner tries every graphics card and processor we can price against each other, adds the cheapest parts that fit them, and shows the build that does the most for the money. It is rule-based and checked, not guessed: if no compatible build fits, it says so. Already have a PC? The upgrade advisor finds what to change first. Before you buy, use the PSU calculator.

We may earn a commission when you buy through these links. It never changes the price you pay, or which shop each part links to: the cheapest in-stock listing we track.

Every part is checked to fit: the board matches the processor's socket, the memory matches the board, the cooler fits the socket, the case takes the board, and the power supply covers an estimated 390W peak draw with headroom. Prices are the cheapest in-stock listing we track and change daily; check the retailer before you buy.

How parts are chosen

Graphics cards and processors are ranked by their relative performance in published reviews and compared on price, using the cheapest believable listing of each model: a listing far below that model's usual price is skipped as a likely error.

What is checked

Socket between processor and board, memory generation between board and RAM, cooler socket support, case size against the board, and power supply size against an estimate of peak draw. At budgets where it matters, memory comes as two sticks and graphics cards have at least 12 GB.
