About
A PC hardware price comparison website for the UK
VantaSpec tracks what PC components actually cost in the UK and puts every price we hold for a part on one page, cheapest first. Those prices come from AWD-IT, Scan, CCL Computers, Overclockers UK, Currys, Box, Novatech, Corsair, Laptops Direct, Ebuyer, Alphacores, GAME, Chillblast, John Lewis, Stormforce Gaming, Razer, MSI, Crucial, SteelSeries, CyberPowerPC UK, LG, HyperX, UK Gaming Computers, Logitech, Samsung, Turtle Beach, Endgame Gear, Keychron and Glorious. There is no basket here and nothing to buy: the button beside a price goes to the shop selling it.
A component’s price moves by tens of pounds between shops on the same day, and the shop that is cheapest on a graphics card is rarely cheapest on the memory to go beside it. So a product page lists every retailer we have a price from, each carrying the date it was last read, rather than one figure you have to take on trust.
Every price read is kept. That is what the chart on a product page is drawn from, and it is what separates a discount from a sticker: a card “reduced” to the price it sat at all month is not a saving, and the history says so.
Building a gaming PC? Check any part on the PC parts price checker, put a PC parts list together in the builder or let the build planner pick one for your budget. See performance per pound for graphics cards and processors, or read every part you need to build a gaming PC.
What is covered
10,387 published components across 23 categories:
Case Fans, Coolers, CPUs, External Storage, Game Controllers, Gaming Headsets, Gaming Keyboards, Gaming Laptops, Gaming Mice, Gaming Monitors, GPUs, HDDs, Microphones, Motherboards, Network Cards, PC Cases, PC Speakers, Prebuilt PCs, PSUs, RAM, SSDs, Thermal Paste, Webcams.
How prices are checked
The most popular parts are re-checked at every shop each night, and the full lists of most shops (Overclockers, CCL, Box, Ebuyer, AWD-IT, Chillblast and Stormforce) are swept every night. Scan limits how many pages we can read, so its older prices are worked through a bit at a time, and Currys and Novatech are read on alternate nights. Every price shows when we read it. A price read more than 7 days ago is marked as possibly out of date, and past 14 days it is left out of build totals, deals and alerts. What you are reading is a price with a timestamp on it rather than a claim about right now.
Building a whole machine
The PC Builder holds eight parts (processor, graphics card, motherboard, memory, storage, power supply, case and cooler) and checks the two things a specification can actually settle: whether the processor’s socket matches the motherboard, and whether the memory is a type that board supports. It also estimates whether the processor or the graphics card will hold the other back, and totals the cheapest price for each part so the build has a real number against it.
How VantaSpec is paid
Some of the shops listed pay a commission when somebody buys after following a link from here. It costs you nothing, and it changes nothing about what you see: Prices are listed cheapest first, always. Whether we earn a commission from a retailer has no effect on the order, and no retailer can pay for a higher position. Which retailers pay us, and how much of each catalogue we hold a price for, is set out on the retailers page.
